tantalising smokey, meaty red fruit nose with peppery notes.Red fruits to the front on palate with rich charcuterie mid palate...solid with a long finish...bargain

Think of this one as an amped version of the Vin Bantos. For a couple of more bucks, for get a uniquely complex, traditional Portuguese wine that is like nothing produced in Australia. Made from grape varieties like Tinta Miuda, Preto Martinho, Camarate and Castelao, you're on the cutting edge of newness of many for many, yet ultra-traditional for those in the know. It's deep in colour, quite dense, well extracted and broad in character. The aromas are super ripe, with a distinctive dark cherry note and a slight spiciness that reminds me of cinnamon. The wine is smooth, layered and subtle.

Another Portuguese ripper! Older brother of the Blue Bons Ventos. Definitely worth a try if you're feeling a little fancy!

The first wine under $20 to make me go wow. If you have tried the Blue Bons Ventos and considered taking the step up to the Gold Setencostas it is well worth it.

Easy drinking goes with most, nothing too complex type of wine. Alway have few on hand. Also a good conversation bottle on the table with people whom pop in.

Situation: It’s pay day tomorrow, but that doesn’t help you. You have a dinner party tonight and of course you’re on wine duty. You’re friends expect only the best but you’re effort to eat 2 minute noodles all week didn’t help at all, and you have only $15 in the bank. Don’t fear, Casa Santos is here. This wine will please even the fussiest of friends and leave them thinking you have spent a fortune. You’re welcome.

Incredible wine for the price. This has become my quaffing wine, but, I would be delighted to offer it at dinner for my guests. Hard to believe the quality for the price!
