Ruby red in the glass, this offers very pretty aromatics on the nose. Quite lovely aromas of red berries mingle delightfully with spice and black pepper notes. The palate is dry, medium-full bodied and amply rewards the promise of the nose. Suggestions of spice, plus red and black fruit, with a crisp acidity and appropriate tannins keeping everything balanced through the end of the long and tangy finish. • Langmeil Blockbuster Shiraz 750ml

2 bottles of Langmeil Blockbuster Shiraz 750ml

There’s a moment when all the effort, barrel time and blending comes together and you get that first taste of a wine. Langmeil’s Paul Lindner finds this the best part of winemaking. The challenge of each vintage is different and you never know the result until that special moment. Langmeil's prestigious history dates back to 1842 and through their many vineyards, and relationships with some of the most tried and tested growers of the Barossa, Langmeil has access to some of the best fruit the region has to offer.

Truly reminiscent of its terroir, this stunning wine is a great expression of the fantastic growing conditions. It's rich and full, velvety and seamless, with impeccably bright fruit, plum, mulberry and raspberry that layers the rich palate. There's also some gentle spice, and the oak effortlessly rounds out the wine. This will develop beautifully over the next few years, but stock up now as we can't guarantee how long this gem will be around.

  • Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone 750mL

2 bottles of Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone 750mL

We've been great supporters of the captivating wines made at Château de Saint Cosme ever since we discovered their wines several years ago. Made of 100% Syrah in the southern Rhône Valley, this wine strikes the ultimate balance between both power and refinement. The quality of this wine should not come as a surprise given that the family have been making wine from the same soil since 1490.

'This 100 per cent syrah from the Gigondas area has deep colour and a spicy, earthy, graphite and violet aroma, with little or no oak influence Dark cherry, too. Full, round palate with flesh and fruit sweetness, finishing with gently drying tannin. Excellent wine of its type, and screw-capped. Best within six years. 13 per cent alcohol. 92/100.'

  • St Hallett Lore of the Land Shiraz 750mL

2 bottles of St Hallett Lore of the Land Shiraz 750mL

Welcoming our 2018 winning wine, the team at St Hallett, headed up by Stuart Blackwell and Toby Barlow have done a fantastic job with this shiraz. Managing to raise the bar once again, we can't praise the wine highly enough!

Our panel were simply blown away by the balance, depth and stunning vibrancy of this shiraz. Lush red fruit, spice and great texture lead to a mouth-wateringly moreish finish. Right away we knew this was a winner, an absolute standout!

The Hampel and Fromm families of growers have been in the Barossa for five generations and know how to get the most from their vineyards. St Hallett then chooses the best from each for the Lore of the Land. The team at St Hallett never fail to impress, with the wine not only taking out top spot in our Best Value Red Wine category but also cleaning up Best Overall Wine. In a fiercely competitive final tasting, this Barossa beauty stood out as our clear winner. It’s the Lore, so why fight it?
