Sauvignon Gris you say? Is that a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris? Well not quite. This little known grape variety originated from Bordeaux and has been discovered by Marlborough's Brancott Estate. Named after their Renwick Vineyard, they have produced an exceptional example of this varietal, which ironically does remind you a little bit of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. Clear and bright, with a medium weight, immediately you are aware that this is a New Zealand wine. Pleasant aromas of pear, passionfruit and honey dew, with quite subtle hints of mandarin, pineapple, lemon and granny smith apples on the palate. Gently acidity and minerality bring it all together, with a touch of spice and a dry finish. Perfect for many food occasions, why not try a new fish creation to match.”
