The Awatere Valley has deep Greywacke soils compacted over millions of years by ancient glaciers. The combination of cool, arid climate and soils, shape the wines from the region, particularly prized for their intense aromatics, ripe flavours and concentration. This deliciously varietal Pinot Gris was whole bunch pressed before 10% was fermented in older French oak barriques. The result is a wine with vibrant fruit flavours and aromatics of pear drop, spice, quince and jasmine. The palate is rich, opulent and balanced by crisp, cleansing acidity.
