This Mother's Day, enjoy Mum's company over a fine glass of champagne or rosé. And don't forget the obligatory G&T.

How do we show one of the most important people in our lives that we appreciate every sacrifice and action she takes to ensure our happiness? Almost an impossible task, especially when there's only one day to achieve such a feat. But take inspiration from our Mother's Day occasion ideas. Hopefully you'll find an event to suit your whole family. And if all else fails, head into your local Vintage Cellars store and ask our experienced team members for tips on what mother may like best.

But let's start with the day – Sunday, 12th May. Whether it's a brunch, a lunch or a late-night supper, make memories with your mum by splurging on special drops. Does Mum like a good red, or champagne rosé?

Champagne rosé brunch

Who doesn't love a good brunch? Set the scene with tableware and floral decorations in Mum's favourite colours and patterns. In-season autumn blooms include tulips, lilies, apple blossom and snapdragons, so make your own artistic floral creations for the table. Treat Mum to a brunch menu, featuring scrambled egg and smoked salmon rolls topped with salmon roe.

These hearty rolls make a fine match to a champagne rosé, such as Mumm Rosé and Moët & Chandon Rosé Brut, or Piper-Heidsieck Lipstick Brut. Follow with a fresh fruit platter and berry yoghurt, or why not indulge with pancakes topped with maple syrup, pears and spiced ricotta? Let the chatter and the family time linger into lunchtime.

Sunday roast

Maybe a hearty roast is more up Mum's alley? With the cooler weather, a meat-based roast lunch or dinner will go down nicely. Start with a cheese platter - team a fine goat's cheese with a glass of La Bohème Cuvée Rosé or Château Cavalier Grand Cavalier Rosé. Then take a seat for the main meal of roast beef fillet.

Afternoon aperitifs

Why make it formal, though? Lift the fun factor higher with afternoon aperitifs. Tanqueray No. 10 comes to life in a martini (shaken not stirred). Or toast to the brilliance of mothers with a glass of Pommery's Cuvée Louise, made with fruit sourced from Grand Cru vineyards, and serve with a classic prawn cocktail or oysters.
