  • Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay 750mL

1 bottles of Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay 750mL

A single sip of Wente Chardonnay was enough to leave the entire tasting panel with the lasting impression that above all else, balance is central in Wente’s winemaking philosophy. When you delve into the winemaking techniques adopted this is reaffirmed; 50% of the wine is fermented in French oak while the other 50% is fermented in stainless steel tanks. It was in this balance that we found a clear winner.

Each summer morning, fog billows inland through the Golden Gate, pushed by Pacific wind streams into the bowl of the San Francisco Bay. Here, it forms deep fog banks that rest on the East Bay Hills. In just one place, the Livermore Valley, with its unique East-West orientation, the fog banks come further east, cooling the air as it goes. This daily phenomenon creates the Mediterranean or Marine climate found in less than 1% of the world's land mass and it makes the San Francisco Bay and Livermore Valley appellations ideal for growing wine grapes that are beautifully balanced.

  • Cave de Lugny Cremant Blanc de Blancs NV 750mL

1 bottles of Cave de Lugny Cremant Blanc de Blancs NV 750mL

Cremant refers to French sparkling wine made in the traditional method outside of Champagne and is specific to a handful of regions. This one, from Burgundy, has a soft effervescence, is creamy and rich showing good complexity. A full, crisp style, exhibiting quality, cool climate Chardonnay fruit.

'Made from 100 per cent chardonnay fruit grown just hours from Champagne. this is a glittering alternative to the real thing. It's clean, bright and tight with juicy pink grapefruit and orange blossom flavours and a lemon fresh finale. Offer incredible value for money.'- Sydney Morning Herald, 25 Jan 2013

'A lacklustre label hides a gem here. This pale chardonnay sparkler from Burgundy has apple and stone-fruit aromas, a nutty thread, some patisserie notes and a fine, foaming mouth-feel ahead of a tangy finish. Score 91'

  • Cave de Lugny Macon Villages 750mL

1 bottles of Cave de Lugny Macon Villages 750mL

We love a great imported wine, in fact, we believe we sell some of the best that the world has to offer. That’s why we loved tasting the wines in this category, such variety and flavour but ultimately we couldn’t go past this unbelievable value for money Chardonnay.

Where else but Burgundy can you get a Chardonnay as good as this? It’s got depth, intensity and so much flavour. It’s fresh and intense with glorious notes of zesty citrus, delicate white flowers and honey. This is an archetypal chardonnay from the Macon Villages in the south of Burgundy that uses different terroirs to combine minerality, delicacy and fruit expression.

  • Pewsey Vale Riesling 750mL

1 bottles of Pewsey Vale Riesling 750mL

Pewsey's pedigree is consistency, quality and great value for money. Eden Valley's typical zesty traits, showing further complexity with apple and honeysuckle hints. The bone-dry palate has a chalky acidity that lends weight and force.

'This may be the best-value single vine wine in the country. The cooler climate wine is energetic and precise, rippling with zesty citrus and a bit of blossom, a dusting of talc and sprinkling of lemon thyme. It is a textbook Eden Valley riesling' - Nick Ryan | Adelaide Advertiser

  • Chandon NV Sparkling Brut 750mL

1 bottles of Chandon NV Sparkling Brut 750mL

The Yarra Valley was first noted as a wine region in the 1800s. But it was in the 1960s when Moët & Chandon saw its potential that the world sat up to pay attention. This is a prime location for cool climate winemaking. Rich, loamy soils are just the beginning, as warm sunshine, breezes off the Southern Ocean and cool evening temperatures help the vines produce fruit of great intensity and concentration. Chandon’s sparkling wines are made with all the quality and prestige of their international counterparts. Made by method traditionelle and aged in bottles for a minimum of 18 months adds layers of complexity and texture that is deserving of the famous Chandon name.

A Chardonnay led method traditionelle sparkling wine, showing generous primary fruit characters, followed by a creamy mid-palate that offers nougat and nectarines, and extends to a soft, lingering, crisp finish. This is the Australian benchmark for bubbles in this price range and an ever-reliable party favourite.

1 bottles of The Ned Pinot Gris 750mL

The Ned boasts an array of varietal cues from apples, pears and mandarins then moving towards spice and white blossoms. There's also a nice touch of tropical fruit but it never falls into the fat, overblown and flabby spectrum. Instead it's hauled back in with tight, pure mineral acidity.

  • The Crafty Punter Clare Valley Riesling 750ml

1 bottles of The Crafty Punter Clare Valley Riesling 750ml

This wine from Neil Pike is one to add to the wine list! Neil Pike has successfully followed in his father Edgar’s footsteps as a highly awarded winemaker. But he isn’t blessed with Edgar’s skill when it comes to punting on the horses. That’s a good thing for us, because all his talent has gone into this elegant Riesling, named in honour of his dad. It’s a guaranteed winner this spring.

'Pikes The Crafty Punter Riesling, Clare Valley 2015, $15 An ethereal style of young riesling, restrained and shy, with aromas of dried flowers and talcum powder.
The palate is fine and very long, appetizing and savoury with a clean, dry aftertaste.'
