Product Details

Crafted in small batches, using traditional 19th century methods, Nàdurra is unlike most modern whiskies. It has not been chill-filtered, resulting in greater body and a distinctively creamy texture and mouth-feel. Delivering all the properties you’d expect from a whisky that has been drawn straight from the cask, it provides a distinctive flavour experience.

This whisky is drawn from casks made from American White Oak, which have never before been used to mature Scotch whisky. These oak casks, a popular choice of distillers at The Glenlivet since the early 1900s, impart hints of creamy vanilla to this wonderfully rich single malt whisky. The nose is an enticing mix of soft vanilla fudge notes and sweet ripe pears engulf the senses. The taste is a tantalisingly tropical mix of juicy pineapple and ripe banana cut with a zesty citrus flourish.

So Glenlivets Take on "natural cask Strength" is a beauty. I have tried may batches of this particular whisky and they are never the same smell or flavor each batch, so if the bottle you have isnt the same as my review you may find it different, but not to much.... Anyway onto the review.. BATCH 0512T.... ALC/VOL- 54.3%.. Ok the truth about this whisky is that IT NEEDS TIME TO BREATH. When the bottle is first opened you will find it very intence (some may like this) to the point it isnt enjoyable. My suggestion is to leave the bottle un corked for an hour to let the air get to it or decanter it into a spare bottle and back into its original. Do this ad the whisky will open up and settle down. ...NOSE... Now nosing and tasting this neat can be done but i would recommend water with it, so you get to full appreciate the different aromas and mouth feel so all the notes are with water added. dont add to much though. Apples and citrus fruits, with a strong vanilla note in here. The non chill filtering makes this whisky an absolute dream to nose. Your getting that classic fruit "Glenlivetyness" especially with a decent does of water. ....TASTE.... Apple Pie, peach and pear are dominate here and then the hazelnut, , spices and vanilla ooze out making this a very rich and rewarding dram. .....FINISH..... A spicy long finish with the oak hanging around after that hazelnut, vanilla and apple notes have left. This is the example of a amazing whisky. Every dram i have a find new flavor combinations if i let is sit just that little bit longer or add another drop of water. If you havnt tried this, your missing out. This Glenlivet is my absolute favorite.
