Product Details

Empirical wines are the result of a magnificent collaboration between the viticulturalist and the winemakers. Like all good wine, the best parcels of fruit are nurtured and then only the best selected. The winemakers have drawn on every ounce of their experience but veered away from the rulebook to deliver wines that push boundaries and satisfy discerning palates. There are only limited batches of these wines, so don’t think twice when it’s Empirical.

Cool fermentation using terpene releasing yeasts have contributed to the extraodinary aromatics on this wine, consisting of turkish delight and rose and finishing on the palate with confectionary and floral notes. We love this small batch gewürztraminer – the best we’ve tasted in years. The palate is lush and creamy with bright acidity and ripe stone fruit, orange blossom and citrus notes.

I am great Gewurztraminer fan and mostly love the European dry but fruity wines. But this is excellent - a great balance of fruit, with a nice light dry taste. Well done, New Zealand!
